Tour description:
Hike in world famous Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. The reserve is one of the most important protected areas of Costa Rica and visited by tourists and scientists alike who come to study its ecosystems and incredible biodiversity. You will be picked up at your hotel in the Monteverde/Santa Elena area and driven the short distance to the reserve.
The first activity is an informative 10 minute video presentation introducing the flora and fauna of the Monteverde cloud forest. You will spend about 2 hours hiking the reserve trails with a knowledgeable nature guide. Keep your eyes open for tropical birds including the Resplendent Quetzal and for mammals such as howler monkeys. After the hike, you will visit the Hummingbird Gallery just outside the reserve, where a dizzying array of hummingbirds zip within inches of you as they come to the feeders. Your driver takes you back to your hotel or your choice of destination in Monteverde or Santa Elena.
