Best Times to Watch the Webcam
The Monteverde cloud forest is constantly changing, but certain times of day offer the most rewarding views:
Early Morning (5:30 AM – 8:00 AM)
This is the best time for birdwatching. You may spot toucans, hummingbirds, and other exotic species as the forest awakens. The soft morning light combined with mist rolling through the canopy creates a truly magical atmosphere.
Afternoon (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
During the afternoon, visibility often improves, and wildlife becomes more active again. This is a great time to enjoy clearer views of the lush green landscape and cloud formations.
Evening (6:00 PM – 8:00 PM)
Sunsets in Monteverde can be breathtaking. Watch as the sky transforms into shades of orange, pink, and purple over the mountains.
⚠️ Important: After dark, the webcam may display a black screen due to the low natural light conditions of the cloud forest. This is completely normal, as the area has minimal artificial lighting to preserve wildlife.
🛠️ TEST WEBCAM
The following webcam feed is a TEST STREAM used by our staff to monitor connectivity, video quality, and system performance.
Occasionally, staff members may run tests, restart equipment, or temporarily disconnect the feed while performing maintenance and troubleshooting.

Where is the Monteverde Live Webcam Located?
Our live webcam is located in the heart of the Monteverde Cloud Forest region, one of Costa Rica’s most iconic destinations for nature lovers and birdwatchers.
This strategic location offers panoramic views of the surrounding forest canopy, mountains, and ever-changing cloud cover that gives Monteverde its name.
The elevation of this area—approximately 1,300 to 1,600 meters (4,200 to 5,200 feet) above sea level—creates the unique cloud forest ecosystem, where moisture-rich clouds pass through the trees almost continuously.
