Nestled in the bustling heart of Monteverde, the CASEM store and workshop epitomize the creative prowess of local artisans. Established in 1982 by an innovative collective of eight female artists, the CASEM Co-op has flourished from modest origins into a thriving community endeavor. Originally stemming from the Cooperativa Santa Elena, CASEM now operates autonomously, empowering nearly 100 members, predominantly women, to channel their creative talents for the benefit of their families and community.
At CASEM, the mission is dedicated to providing meaningful employment opportunities for local women while imparting invaluable training in arts and crafts production techniques. Through our initiatives, we strive not only to foster economic empowerment but also to cultivate self-esteem, encourage community engagement, and nurture artistic expression.
By supporting CASEM, you contribute to a virtuous cycle of empowerment and sustainability. Our members receive 65% of the proceeds from each purchase, enabling them to invest in their families and futures, while the remaining 35% is reinvested into our cooperative’s facilities and educational programs.
