*Curi-Cancha Reserve* is part of the Monteverde *cloud forest* ecosystem. While the entire Monteverde area is considered cloud forest, *from December to April our guides prefer to operate tours at Curi-Cancha*.

This reserve offers a mix of *open forest and dense forest areas*, making it easier to move between different habitats. This variety allows guides to adapt to daily wildlife activity and *increase the chances of seeing more birds and wildlife* compared to more uniformly dense areas.

To keep our tour prices as fair and competitive as possible, we only charge a small deposit online and the remaining balance in cash on the day of the activity. Banking and credit-card processing fees in Costa Rica can be extremely high—sometimes reaching up to 23% due to local regulations and financial institution charges. If we were to process full payments online, these additional costs would significantly increase our prices.

Our guides work with a base salary, and they are responsible for collecting the remaining cash balance on behalf of MonteverdeTravel.com and delivering it directly to the company. This system helps us avoid excessive banking fees and allows us to maintain lower rates for our clients. Guides only keep the tips you may wish to give, and these are always greatly appreciated.
