| The Monteverde Butterfly Garden is one if the biggest attractions in Monteverde and exists for the purpose of environmental education. Approximately 50 different species of local butterflies are hand-raised by the staff. Not only can you take an hour long tour, given by well-trained volunteers, but you can also visit the Medicinal Plant Garden and the Leaf Cutter Ant Nest exhibit. During the tour, you visit the four enclosed greenhouses and are given a lesson in the Nature Center . In addition, you are more than welcome to view a 20-minute video after the tour, narrated by Jim Wolfe (one of the founders). |
